This is a spread I designed for my typography II class on the importance of teddy bears! I wanted the style to evoke nostalgia and be reminiscent of children's book illustrations. I tried to create a soft, safe yet fun atmosphere with the watercolor washes, quirky typeface for the headline and the organic speech bubbles I drew for the subheadings!
Book Cover Design
We were assigned a random book based on our birth month and year and were told to design two covers, one image-based and one type-based. I was assigned "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver. I started by reading summaries of the book, learning about the characters, symbols, and motifs in the book. I started sketching ideas and creating mood boards for the style and ideas I wanted to incorporate.
